Dr. Ian Marcus

Dr Ian Marcus

Dr Ian Marcus graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 1980. Dr Marcus specializes in skin cancer checks and Melanoma detection, using the latest technology and special skill he has learned through successfully diagnosing and excising/curing 70 melanomas. Dr Marcus feels very privileged to have been able to rescue and cure that many Melanoma victims through very early diagnosis, and feels very honoured to have been nominated just recently by many of his patients to be Australian of the year for his achievements and dedicated service to the community and to our fabulous lucky country.

Dr Marcus completed 2.5 years specialising in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care where he learned some very handy techniques to ensure a pain-free approach to mole excisions. He also prides himself in the ability to achieve almost invisible scars after excisions through the use of his special suturing technique and an almost perfect record of a zero infection rate after the surgery.

He attributes his melanoma detection skills to many years of experience and many thousands of cancer excisions, teaching his brain some very special pattern recognition techniques to ensure no melanomas escape what he calls his “Inspector Clouseau” approach where delinquent cancer cells put out specific suspicious clues and patterns that he has learned to recognise immediately, to enable very early detection and cure.

Dr Marcus looks forward to coming to work each day to see and consult with his patients as he has over a period of 15 years cultivated an “Original Family GP style Practice” as he describes it.

Dr Marcus’s goal has always been to not only keep his patients healthy but also to enrich almost every patient’s life with his knowledge, skills and special interests in stress management, conflict resolution, workplace and school bullying and has a very soft spot for anyone suffering.

He is very excited to be working with such a fabulous team at the Butler Village Medical Centre as he feels he shares their most special vision and goals for Executive personalized patient care.
